If they're the factory sensors, you will find they are difficult to really physically clean due to the bulbous cover protecting the sensor itself unless you soak it in something to try and decarb the sensor and manage not to harm it in the process. Sensors are fairly cheap unless paying dealer cost to not replace them if they have any age at all on them or you suspect a faulty one from codes being set or show to be faulty or lazy on oscillation thru scanning. You can get these heated O2 sensors aftermarket on line for about 34 a piece shipped to your door in denso or delphi brands which have so far worked fine for me.

It really irks me to see how people get taken by the stealership or some repair shops on parts and labor for something very simple and cheap to fix.

Much appreciated I know what you mean, Doing all the prior work to my vette was a big step for me and i have to say thanks to all of you guys on here made it possible for me to fix the car. I heard so many stories that the universal ones have to be assembled thats why they are so cheap. I spoke to a rep at corvette paramedics, reputable shop by the way, but even they said they cost over 100 bucks each and beware of aftermarket. Would autozone or Napa carry these denso or delphi

NAPA or Autozone may carry that type if you need them in a hurry. The 34 dollar price on line is for the exact heated O2 sensor type connector style, not the universal type, so no need to modify them.

ok will do, many thanks, last questions do you know where the wires lead too? Do they lead to the opti?
Sensors go back to the PCM where the voltages are used for fuel calculations. Then the proper pulse width is fed to the injectors.
O2 sensors should never be cleaned as I have read, it will ruin a good one. It's not that they get dirty (only), but the material that develops the voltage gets tired also with age and just does not respond and swing the voltages correctly.
Saving money is nice, but for the work involved and the impact the O2s have on the engine performance and running, I think new ones should be absolutely installed.
Ok I'm buying new ones this weekend, give me something to do with all the snow coming agian. thank you very much.
Great. You're doing it the right way. And the cost is fairly reasonably as compared with some other repairs.
A bit of advice doing it yourself. Get a O2 socket other than the normal socket. Harbor Freight has one that you can get a wrench on sideways. I only suggest this because you might not have the clearance for a standard O2 socket.
Luckily my neighbor has all the tools i dont have and he has the socket you are referring to, thank goodness. I asked him earlier today and he has it. I called a vendor and i am getting a front set of densos, I might as well replace both, even though the left one is the little bugger acting up, right? I will keep you posted on my progress as always many thanks, in the spring we can talk about replacing the rubber seal all around lol

AGAIN, "Denso" oxygen sensors are sold online for under $35.00.
