Default windows and weatherstrip

Just changed the weatherstrip on my '93 Ruby Coupe and now there's a problem trying to fully close the windows. They bog down and stop about 80% of the way up. Open the doors and they work fine. Any ideas?

Was the weatherstripping OEM or GM approved or was it aftermarket?

Have a friend (forum member) here in the area that purchased aftermarket and had the same problem, they then purchased the approved weatherstripping and replaced the bad (cheap) aftermarket and had no issues.

I have to do this on mine, but I have been stalling because I am afraid of botching the job.

Try puting some silicone or dielectic grease on the gaskets , this may stop them from sticking to the glass.. Also if you let it sit a few days with the windows up and the doors closed it may compress the gaskets to where they should be. Some people have problems closing there doors after a gasket install and time and pressure usually fixes the problem. Also unless you have a heated garage, cold weatherstripping is not as soft as warm weatherstripping and wont compress as easily..WW

there are felt-covered bump stops that can be adjusted. I believe 2 per window?

Sorry for the late reply...You were right about the aftermarket weatherstrip. I changed the big piece from door to door over the roof with a new one and the windows worked fine. The bad weatherstrip came from the "thieving" dealer I bought the Ruby and the new stuff from Ecklers. Thanks so much!

I have that problem with Wilcox's. I just lower the window about 1/2" every time I step out.

I have to re-align the windows.
