FYI - Sunfaded LCD's look like the following:
http://home.comcast.net/~digital_das...un_faded_2.JPG

When I bought my car, the speedo was sunfaded. Through this forum, I found not only the info to be able to R&R the cluster, I also found that it was possible to replace the film(the actual sun damaged part) on the front of the glass. Film I ordered from: http://www.polarization.com/polarsho...products_id=32

Two hours labor, $30 worth of parts (relpaced the bulbs while I was in there too), good to go!

I didn't know it was possible to just replace the film! How did you do it exactly? Disassemble cluster, remove the LCDs, then cut the film to fit and apply it? Or is it possible to do it without disassembly of the cluster?

I've replaced my tach LCD, but now the other two are starting to sunfade I might try that before purchasing the other two LCDs.

BTW, for anyone interested, this is the guy I've used to get LCDs/Bulbs in the past. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/witchcit...1&_from=&_ipg=

Yes, remove the cluster and take it apart as directed by the previously posted website batee.com. Once apart, remove the film from the front of the lcd glass -which is a semi difficult task because I tried NOT to remove the attached connectors if I could help it. I think I used a razor blade to get a corner started, but it came off in pieces anyway. Make sure you get all the layers, it should look like a normal piece of glass when your finished. Clean it up real good with some window cleaner, reapply the new film. Take your time re-applying, my first go round I had a ton of air bubbles in it and it looked terrible. Reassemble and you should be good to go. As I may or may not have mentioned in this thread, the new film is a tad lighter (ie, when the car is off, the guage is not completely black). You will still be able to somewhat see the guage when the car is off, but it looks better imo... I wish I had done them all this way when I had it out. Good luck if you attempt!
