On the underside of the dash near your right knee, there is a connector called an ALDL (that stands for assembly line data link) and there are 2 slots on it that you jump together with a paper clip. The check engine light will flash at you. It will flash each code 3 times. The first set of flashes is the 10's digit and the 2nd set of flashes is the ones digit. So if it flashed <flash> <flash> <flash> <slight pause> <flash> <flash> <flash> <flash> that would be code 34 (3 flashes then 4 flashes) and it would repeat that code twice more. It starts out by flashing code 12 I think and that just means it's going to start giving you the codes. It loops continuously so when it flashes code 12, you know it's starting over. You can later reference the codes to see what they mean.
I forget what ones you jump though but I'm sure someone here will tell you.
Do you mean computer trouble codes, or RPO codes that tell you what options came on your car originally?
For RPO codes, look on the underside of your center console. If they are not there, they will be on the underside of the storage bin behind the driver's seat. They are all 3 character combos of letters and numbers. :)
