Also wanted to say I'm really going to like the 3.45 gears in the Dana 44. Can't wait to get it to the track.
The cutouts are from DMH.
The exhaust system is Stainless Works LT's into bullet cats into the stock pipes with the resonator removed and in it's place a X pipe from RacerX70CC. Stock mufflers and tips.
That film clip is awesome!! I wasn't sure if they opened on their own...sure enough they swung open.....that is awesome.....I want, I want I want!!
Hey, that's a great idea to put them there. Why didn't I think of that?
12.3 is movin' pretty good. Do you know what the DA was? It'll be interesting to see if the dyno numbers change much. I'm interested in what those cutouts do. Aside from improved sound, I've heard some say they make little to no performance difference, some say they help, some say they hurt. My personal thought is they would probably hurt low end torque on a stock motor, but with mods like yours I suspect they may help the higher RPM hp more than they hurt low tq, especially since you're stalling past the low RPM range anyway.
I've been following your project for quite a while now, I'm almost as excited for yours as I am for my own! We've had a few nice days here this week and like you I'm looking forward to test & tune days in April.
No idea about the DA. I have a link somewhere to a site that figures that stuff. I think you can backtrack to previous dates. It was on Feb 20 @ Rockingham early afternoon with temps in the upper 50's. I've had a few spirited blast just to see if the butt meter could feel any difference with the 3.45 gear in there. The vibes were good! I'm going to have to change up my whole launch routine now. That's ok it needed to be improved anyway.
I'll have the proof you want on the 20th, next weekend unless it rains. That is the dyno day and the T&T is April 3rd. We''ll find out for sure what the cutouts do if anything. I don't believe the rear gears will change the rwhp any and other than the cutouts and putting the stock exhaust back on that's all I have done to the car since the last pulls I did so it should be pretty accurate. So keep on tuning in.
I really want to drive the car some before tearing the heads off. It's tuff though. This Horse Power thing is very addicting. Maybe I can make it a couple months..........

When I went from 2.59 to 3.45 what a difference. When you know you can't floor it at a rolling 40 mpg because of the fear of ending up in a ditch you know you have some serious horse power.

Gears are probably one of if not the best mod you can do.
Yeah, the site I use says the DA was pretty close to 100 there that day too. I just found the other thread about your track day. Wow, your timeslips look a lot like mine in similar air. I haven't had mine on the dyno yet, but I suspect yours is making a hair more hp than mine. Practice that launch, a 1.69-1.71 60' got me into the low 12.2 range. 1.73-1.74 puts me in the 12.30-12.40 range. With that new rear end of yours, 1.6s should be within reach.
Now you're gettin' me all excited to get it back out of the garage, I hope we get a break in the rain this weekend!
PS, I run my 315 MT ET Street Radials at 20 psi on the street and at the track. I've thought about letting some air out to see if it helps the 60' but haven't tried it yet. Also, as for flashing the converter, my best 60' times seem to come when I sit on the stall a little, about 1000-1500 rpm. I'm not an expert, just sharing my experience. By the way, did I mention I love those cutouts? I can feel my wallet getting lighter...
