I just installed this higher stall converter in my car and now the converter does not want to lockup like before. I had the stock unit in it, and it worked fine. I got the new one to work once at normal speeds. Then again only after hitting 80MPH. Have not been able to get it to work since that. I'm thinking line pressure problem?
Sorry I didn't word that well. What I meant by "not locking up like before" is it doesn't. When it did it was at 80MPH the second time. The other converter would lockup @ 50-55MPH all the time. I can't for the life of me think of why it would not work so well now? unless it is the seal. Can Different stall speeds change the pressure/lockup?
The first test drive I took yesterday with the new converter it lockup at 55MPH. I know because this is to loss a converter for me (plan to sell it) You can feel it lockup and the RPMs dropped to the 1500RPPM as they always have. Samething on the interstate. I was running 2800+ RPM then it locked and the RPMs dropped to about 2000RPM. Where can you buy a line pressure guage? Any parts store have them?
I also noticed a little fluid leak. It appears to be from the pan. How bad can this effect it?
I have only gotten the new converter to lockup 2 times (last night).
One was at normal 55MPH. The 2nd time was at 80MPH. This was early in the night. I have not been able to get it to lockup since though. I have hit 75MPH a few times with no luck. So as it stands the lockup is not working until 80MPH. The signal is there to lock, but the tranny is not allowing it.
