Default 88 MAF voltages

I am checking MAF voltages to try and fix this thing.I have a code 34.The middle green wire has 4.95v.I found the outside wire(black)is a ground. The wire between these two is violet/black stripe and has no voltage, but when I put the probe on it it goes -1v does that mean this wire is shorted? Is this wire supposed to have 12 volts?I am checking this with the key on/engine off.I cannot get 12 volts anywhere on the MAF plug.Sugestions please.

Put a +12 volts to pin "G" on the ALDL then check your MAF voltages again. Hooked up normally you have to run +12v power to pin "G" on the ALDL...the test plug on the drivers side hush panel (the bypass to "G" powers the fuel pump circuit/MAF) while using a voltage probe/meter to check the wires at the MAF plug wires for the proper voltages.

Trouble with the MAF: Replace both the power and the burn off relays before changing/replacing the MAF itself. Look inside the MAF housing to ensure that the filiment is still intact....if no wire is present then it is time to buy a new MAF.

I replaced the relays,I am just trying to figure out if its the wiring or the MAF itself.I have the car hooked up to a laptop with the winaldl software and at a constant rpm the mafa numbers are moving between 6 and 11 at about 1200rpm.Ok so I put power to teminal G and turn the ignition on ? then check voltages? What should they be?

This is an '86 but voltages will be the same - Dark Green wire should be ~2.5 V with engine running I believe:
