The way we usuallly check for vacuam leaks is either use a propane torch or carb cleaner and spray it around all the tubes and upper gasket areas with the car running. If the rpms pick up while your spraying the carb cleaner or waving the propane over these areas then you have found your leak..If you have an exhaust leak it could also affect the idle..Let use know what you find...WW
Our 86 surged from 600-1k rpms at idle. Changed the fuel filter and oxygen sensor at the same time and it stopped surging. Not sure which one did it but one of them did.
