Need fuel pump wiring info please
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...-kills-me.html
This is from my mechanic whom I do trust and if he is unsure will ask so he wanted me to ask
Fuel pump has been replaced and car will start and run with a jumper wire ran too the pump..
relay has power coming off it
relay was swapped also just in case
the problem is the wire changes colors somewhere between the relay under the dash and the pump.
he can not get power to the pump through the relay
is there a plug somewhere that could have came unplugged or does anyone have a wiring schematic for the fuel pump?
the wire is orange coming off the relay but tan with a white tracer at the pump.
He can take a jumper from the relay and run it to the pump and it runs fine
so he is 99.99% sure that the problem is a a wiring junction somewhere but his books does not show where.
he said he could just rewire it and put an in line fuse in there but would rather do it right.
any suggestions?
Thanks in advance?

Checked the pump fuse ?
Should be able to get pump running by putting 12V on terminal G at ALDL .
Confirms wiring from relay through fuse to pump with key off

Typical pump wiring. Colors may not be correct for your year

But it is possible that the fuse blew when he replaced the relay that was bad and has not rechecked it.
Is that fuse in the access panel on on side of the dash or under the hood?
the last info he gave me was it was orange from the relay but tan/white at the pump.
He said he would show me tomorrow the relay that looked like it got so hot it had melted some inside,
his working theory is that the filter became clogged when it was ran out of gas and then the pump was working extra hard to keep enough fuel going through the filter that it overheated and shorted out in the process taking the relay out and now most likely the fuse, He thought it may have a fuseable link hidden somewhere that burned out.
I know he may sound like he is not that good of a mechanic but he normally works in motorhomes and does few vettes, I respect someone who will admit that they need help more than someone who will just keep throwing things at it hoping to hit the right thing.
