Default Electronic A/C Problem

Have a 95 that does not work in Auto Fan Mode, no fan at all. Same runs OK in Auto mode with manual fan speed selection. My 95 FSM says to use the 94 FSM for A/C issues, which I do not have. The
95 FSM does have good electrical diagnosis, but most of same use a "Tec 1 Box" that I dont have.

Is there a way to do a self check and get failure codes?

What are the best guesses as to the problem being with the HVAC Programmer or the HVAC Control Head?

Other possible bad components?

T H A N K S !

Difficult to diagnose without using the CCM link; ie, a bi-directional Scanner to emulate the Controls. I'd guess however that if you push a button and nothing responds, it's the Controls - particularly if things work for all the other buttons (that at least rules out the data lines which are relaying the signals to the Programmer). You could take it (the Controls) apart and clean up the Contacts - or buy a rebuild - or to be sure, let a Dealer charge you for an hour of diagnostic to figure it out (85 - 100 Bucks?).

The only failure is no auto fan, but fan works fine in manual mode.

likely control head needs to removed , disassembled, cleaned with contact cleaner, clean ALL contact point after taking front plate off internal circuit board with pencil eraser and re-assemble - this is a common problem. Takes about 30 minutes total with a little experience, an hour to 1.5 if its your first time. If this doesnt fix it, then start the a/c diagnostic tree.
