Default help removing coil

I am removing the icm and coil on my lt1 to get them tested and am having trouble removing the coil, icm.

I am on the left bolt of the bracket and I got the outer nut off but the power steering pump reservoir bracket is not giving me enough play in order to remove inner bolt/stud, do I need to take the bracket off of the stud first and if so where are the bolts to do so?

There's another bolt below that on the p/s bracket. IRRC, you can loosen that enough that you can slip the p/s bracket off the stud. It helps if you pull the heaterhoses out of that bracket.

I cursed GM the first time I did this

Just changed the ICM again hope this one lasts more than 8 - 10 months.

Not to be negative. But if you had a dead engine, testing might show up something. But since the engine is running I don’t think a test will show up anything definitive.

I think with the way auto part stores test them, they will show up with some sort of output. But under load and an elevated temperature of what the engine runs at will not be a duplicated condition.

But I wish you the best of luck and await your test results....

They don't seem to be worth a crap anymore do they. I just had to put another one in my '96.

I think my original is still OK. However I am sitting on a GM spare at home just in case.

There is nothing like substitution.

Don't forget the thermal compound heat transfer grease that comes with the new ICM. If you don't use it, your ICM'll stir-fry itself to death from all that underhood engine heat in short order!

When I was trying to address an engine miss (which I know you are trying to find referring to your other thread), one of the things I did was to replace the stock coil with an MSD coil. This did not completely eliminate the miss but the car definitely ran better after the coil swap.
