Default Loose PCV Valve

How loose should the PCV valve sit? On mine it seems to pull up and out with relatively little effort...seems to me like it should be snugger, there it some oil buildup around it which is lubing things up a bit. Can you replace the part that it sits in? OR is it possible it may have been replaced with a slightly too small valve? The end with the elbow and tube is snug, except it seems to rotate freely at teh connections.

Thanks for any insight

You could try changing the grommet.

Im assuming this is on an LT1. My PCV line is loosely attached the valve cover, but its pretty snug in the intake... Mine had very little oil around it though. Try cleaning it and getting it in there as snug as possible, then report back!

It is a L98, but I will clean it first and see if that snugs things up. And it is the grommet in the valve cover that is loose fitting around the pcv valve.

Do the grommets shrink/wear thin over time?

The grommets get eaten up by the oil over time and they get all gummy so they loose their grip on the cover and the valve. Ensure that the hose that links to the PVC valve isn't trying to lift the valve up.

Mine was loose as well. Cleaned it up and wrapped about 5 rounds of black electrical tape around it. Tightened it up nicely.

I guess that makes sense. It does not appear that the hose is trying to lift the valve up. Thanks for the info!

Suppose that would work for a quick fix...but it's a relatively inexpensive part...Why not fix it right?

I agree! Alot like fixing a leaking radiator with "fix-a-leak". Always fix the problem.
