96 Start failure

96 Start failure
my wife's 96 died in traffic yesterday, so my weekend projects got put on hold to fix it after towing it home.
i'm suspecting either the fuel pump or fuel pump relay as it doesn't prime when turning on the key, but does crank well (recent battery and starter replacements). are there any codes that can help narrow it down? unfortunately, she tried turning it over and ran the battery down, so lost any codes if there were any. it's on the charger now, so i'll be able to try again later today.
is there any points at the top of the pump assembly that can be tested to see if power is getting there? i'd rather just take off the tank neck rather than dig around trying to get the passenger trim panel off to test the relay point.
