Help pinging fuel problem
Also I noticed today the charcoal canister line is all plugged. I do smell gas and when I take the cap off I get a whoosh.
I thought the whoosh was the cap not venting at first so I took it off and the car died after about half a mile. Then it ran like it was out of gas, pop and sputter. I limped home and after a few restarts it was running "normal" again. A little less pinging but it's still there.
Doesn't matter who's gas I run it pings and craps out.
So can the line to the charcoal canister being plugged cause it crap out and ping? Do I have 2 problems, the second being a bad fuel pump?
I thought at first maybe a knock sensor but I don't get any codes.
First fix all that is obviously wrong and needs repair then go from there. The fuel tank does normally pressurize and you will smell gas when the cap is removed.
I would start by measuring the fuel pressure and see if the pressure is correct or have a flow problem when the engine requires more fuel under power. Perhaps the filter is clogged or the sock in the tank.
Just a thought that if you’re not getting sufficient fuel to the engine, it might lend to a to lean condition and ping, just a guess. Hopefully the ECM is not the problem causing the timing to be to advanced.
