First post here so here I go,
I autocross my 40th Ann. and I seem to have created one hell of a "knock-knock" in the front right suspension of the car. This usually happens under slow speeds while turning but could be happening under "race" conditions as well. I cant feel anything but it's really starting to scare me. Everything looks fine but I may not be looking in the right place. Does anyone have any idea what this could be and how to fix the issue?
Is this something in the steering or in the up and down movement of the suspension, or can you even tell? Do you hear the knock when you are not moving and turn the steering wheel or is it just when the car is moving? I have developed a similar problem, when turning the steering wheel even when not moving, I am not sure what it is but I think it's something I did wrong when I replaced the lower ball joints, it's made the noise ever since.
I'm not saying this is if but I would check the bushings on everything. They can look ok but deflect a lot sooner than new ones would once they get old. A loose caliper bolt or caliper bracket bolt could also make a noise like that.
With the wheel in the air does it pass the bearing test?

Have ball joint and tie rod ends checked for excessive wear by a good front end shop. They can check other steering components while the car is on the lift.
