I am having a break-up right around 6000 under load. I just got off the horn with Graham Behan from LPE(He re-did my calibration to remove the detonation the car had) and ironically when I got the car back last summer, I noticed a little miss. I didn't have a tach in the car at the time so I didn't know where it was happening. Now I have full ability to monitor RPM and it is JUSSST on the edge of 6000 where it sounds like a limiter cutting out(which it is not) Graham said it could be the module seeing the Distributor is 102,000 miles old(I know there are a lot more out there with higher mileage..but the 383 needs juice I assume). So, is it an easy modification? Has anyone done it? Plugs last time looked light beige..not bad. Still waiting for the coil-wires-cap and rotor to go in(Waiting sucks).
Other than that, the car runs perfectly..part throttle to that zone where it cuts out.
Thanks for any help-ideas-replies. I said I was going to try and get everything right before summer. I have my work cut out for me! This car is worse than a Woman! :yesnod:
Re: [Distributors] How long do Modules last? (JD 90 383)
Sounds about right on an HEI car. It went out on my truck and it left me stranded! I would get the Holley Annihilator module from Summit, it's what I have, BIG improvement IMHO.
Re: [Distributors] How long do Modules last? (TIMSPEED)
Luckily I called them and had the catalog in front of me. Whew! I had the wrong one the first time. Now it's the 7 pin. It'll be here Thursday which is when the magnetic pickup arrives too.
Re: [Distributors] How long do Modules last? (JD 90 383)
Yeah, haha. I made that same mistake! I drove up there and the guy AT SUMMIT told me I had a 4 pin...so I drive all the way back home, and I go to put it on, and I realize I have a 7 pin! :mad I made them pay the difference between the two (Because I actually had a Petronix the first time, which was $15 cheaper) So, 3 days later I had the new part. I swear, some people who work at these car part places :mad they'd be better off just hiring hot chicks, so at least we'd have something nice to look at!
AS A SIDE NOTE: 100% original GM HEI 4pin modules, last 26 years/175k miles. :D (That's from the one on my truck going out!)

Isn’t that the truth! They would probably do a lot more business too. Hmmm, sounds like an idea, a hooters type part store! I would think of something to buy everyday.
