Default What is too hot

I have a 86 and I run about 195 to 210. I have had the rad. boiled out. I rebuilt the motor 30 over. At that time they boiled the block and heads. I have even run the fan full time and I still run 195 to 210 when it gets above 80%. The motor will run 185 when it gets cooler out. My question, is this to hot or should I just give up and run it?

Correct factory specified running temperature for a 1986 L98 is 195 degrees. The main fan is programmed to come on at 224 degrees and shut off at 212 degrees. The front auxiliary fan, if you have one, is programmed to go on at 236 degrees.

Soooooooooo, sounds to me that your Corvette is performing just fine and at factory specs.

That temp sounds good.My 86 runs 215 in traffic with a/c on. Going down the freeway drops to 185. With 180 thermostate

What do you mean give up? You should just forget about it. Never run the fan full time.

45-60psi hot cruise, trending down a little as the engine oil gets hotter
50+ cold idle
20-30psi hot idle

as a general rule you must have 10psi for every 1000rpm the engine turns

I was having a noise issue with my exhaust, and went to dual 3 way cats and eliminated the precats.
Suddenly, my car stopped being so hot.
I would have your precats checked by a muffler shop. I found mine were having problems by the extremely high car temp after getting home from work, and shutting the garage door.
The garage temp went up to 154 degrees!!! it was blistering hot in there. now it's 117 degrees on a 110 degree day.
mine is an 86e
