You get what you pay for but your heads should match the cam. If your cam is around .500 lift then the cheaper dart or trick flows will work. Higher lift cams you needed the AFRs they simply out flow others for just few hundred dollars more.

Don't assume. Better to ask TPIS about cam/head combos. They'll know where the head stalls and where more lift can hurt. Gotta remember, mid-lift average matters too.

The implication that TPIS/AFR heads aren't a quality parts makes the comment poorly worded IMO. Since their L98 heads flow VERY close to the AFR 180s, what makes you so sure their LTx heads aren't done well?

I own the AFR 195 heads and i think there the best on the market. What I was talking about the cheaper heads like GMs,dart, trickflow 23s that cost a few $100 less then AFR but will not preform as good without a few $100 in port work.

If the cam was only 400 lift then the head that delivers more in tbe low and midlift ranges will still be a better performer and carry tbe powef and further. To say the cam is xxx lift so a head can only flow xx at tbat lift isnt true theres more to it fhan that
