Default Replumbing the forward fuel lines

I ran new lines up from the stock hard lines by the filter and relocated a filter up top. This makes the element inside very easy to change! I also got the lines away from the header so the fuel should be cooler. I thought of putting a fuel shut off valve in to make working on the lines gas free but decided against it. They can always be clamped at the tank.

Here's a picture while working on them in case someone wants to do something similar:

Thank you! There's lots of room to run the lines up by the blower instead of over by the header like the stock lines. Man are those things a huge zig zag mess! I used the typical 16x1.5 mm o-ring adapters on the hard lines by the old stock fuel filter for attaching the braided line. Then ran 6 AN up to the rear of the rails for the MR.

THREAD JACK

I ended up taking apart my SuperRam to swap my fuel rail. Decided against braided lines from the fuel filter forward since its more $$$ that doesn't really a performance increase lol

I'm not sure what I'm looking at,,,but it's really cool how you use your heater blower to drive fuel thru the system!

Seriously, interesting mod!

Looks like a good mod. You're keeping the return line as is, correct?

Why did you decide against the shut off? That would be very handy at times.

That is nice, there are times I wish my car had all that crap out of it so I had tons of free space in the engine bay, but then again I also like my wife to ride in the car with me.

About the fuel shut off, they cost so much for what it is. Plus the lines are higher then the gas tank and don't leak. However, the rail will still drain out. I've worked on the fuel system a few times now and the shut off valve wouldn't be worth the expense.

This looks really cool and good improvement!

I read on here some time ago that the braided fuel hoses deteriorate quicker than rubber (or obviously hard line) and need to be changed every couple years. Is that really true?

It could be depending on conditions. I have some braided lines on my old turbo car that I sold to my brother, they are 15 years old now and are fine. That hits 80 PSI FP at 25 PSI of boost, compared to 45 PSI FP for most of us.

When looking for a filter I found the stock one only flower 90 gpm at 10 microns. That made me wonder if it flows enough for some of the higher HP combos. What I found was 1gph/12hp, so we are okay there!

Man I would say it is easy to break a budget with all the an fittings, and lines.
That turned out very nice.

When I was going to install the HSR I wanted to get rid of the fuel lines also, I still might do it. I hate them by the header too.

I think I spent $150 on it, the filter was $50 and replaceable filters for it are $10. Those fuel shut off valves were quite a lot. Some had 100 micron filters as well. I didn't really want two filters to clean. Not seen are the 16x1.5 mm o-ring adapters on the stock hard lines and more AN 90° fittings on them.

The blue tube by the blower will be for a catch can on the trans vent.

Good idea with the filter location. I brought my lines up in a similar place, where your blue tube goes down by the fender gill.

I did a hard tube adapter and replaced the filter with one of those small ones from Russel but it's in the stock location. Should have moved it up where you did! Good thinkin'

The best part is getting rid of the stock rubber lines that ran right next to the headers. I did a similar routing but no aftermarket filter.

Ahh you reused that double line clamp. I just took that off the stock line set. I should reuse it to hold the lines as well. I wanted to use one of the small stainless steel filter elements because they are washable. But they all filtered 40 microns which I thought wasn't enough. I have one of that type on my old turbo car, it looks like curls of tiny wires inside.
