Default check your spare

I checked my spare tire on my 86 for the first time since I owned the car, two years now. Not only was the
tire flat but the top bead had broken loose and the tire was filled with water!! Must have weighed 40 pounds!!!

I'm taking it in to get it broken down to see if the rim is ruined. The tire looks pretty well gone. I don't know if you can buy one
of these tires or if you have to buy the tire and rim together. It doesn't look like the tire has ever been used.

When I first checked mine out it looked like a squirrel or a chipmunk had stored 40lbs worth of nuts in there.

Ok, I'll take a look at mine; it's about 10ft from me as I type.:jester

I did the spare & jack delete over a year ago but left the carrier for that "stock" look with out the extra 50lbs of weight.

Yes you can take the carrier off, four bolts, two each in each bracket. Nice work JD. Did you take it all apart to detail it?

My goodness that is bright. Just where do you install all the batteries to keep it shinning? In that big thing in the center? Just kidding, looks real nice and a awful lot of work.

Donno why, I edited it and said I deleted the clamps...simply put a bead of weld on there now,and things are good. Just a little scubbin' some mothers polish and thats how things turned out. The mounts are Red becuase I wasn't sure I was going to go Admiral Blue.Still looks good though :D
