replacing the opti spark
well mines gone bad on my lt1 found one on summit for 250 or msd for like 4 something
i called a local shop and they said 650 installed (remanufactured) is it just me or is that really high?
how long would it take me with basic hand tools to replace it myself

Depends on how good you are..I took my time with my water pump and it was about 5 hours...yeah I went real slow as to not mess up the opti. But since you're going to replace it, pulling the water pump will go faster as you don't care if you get the opti wet. I like the MSD opti , looks well made.

Not high at all actually, allow the shop $50 markup on the part which is minimal, Alldata shows 3.8 hours labor, multiply by typical $100 per hour labor rate (most shops here are higher) = $380 + tax you are getting a bargain.
