Default getting started
car starts but will not idle.what are some sugestions on what is wrong.

any codes? how about o2 sensor. If one goes bad car idles horribly

1. Loose or faulty electrical connections at distributor, coil or alternator

2. Insufficient fuel reaching the fuel injectors

3. Vacuum leak at the gasket between the intake manifold and throttle body

You might want to start with the idle air control valve.

Then the throttle position sensor's idle voltage and minimum idle setting.

The fuel pressure is 18psi but it does not hold pressure.car is hard to start.

18 PSI is not anywhere close to enough pressure to make her run. Is there any fuel in the regulator vacuum line ?

The good thing is you know what the trouble is, now you only have to find out what is causing it.

What should the fuel pressure be . Replaced fuel pump and filters.

Approx 38-42 psi. based on what I have read in some other posts.
