Same here and if there is one mod I have done that really paid off and not had issues this is it. Pete K converters are awesome!

For your car, I would suggest a 9.5 inch, 2600 stall speed.
From a red light, stop sign etc, it will feel stock.
When you drive it hard, it will flash nicely, giving you instant throttle response.

The preferred size is 9.5 inch

A 12 inch converter with 2600 stall is not as "tight" as a 9.5 inch with the same stall speed.
A 9.5 incher is 14 pounds lighter.
Both contribute to drivability, and accelleration.

Keep in mind though there are always con's in any performance mod.

Smaller size means less fluid capacity. About 2 quarts less in a 10 qt system.
Added stall combinded with smaller capacity = more heat.
I would recommend an inexpensive cooler, and a deeper pan to remove the extra heat you will make (or cannot shed due to the smaller system capacity).
2 inexpensive mods that counteract the "cons".

For a builder to make the correct stall, he needs to know as much of the following as possible:
Vehicle weight
Rear end gear ratio
Approx hp and torque at the flexplate
Desired stall
Cam duration on the intake @ .050

Correct inputs in the formula, enable to builder to achieve the correct output (stall).

Take a ride up to Boyton Beach. Maybe toptechx6 will take you for a ride. He is running one of my 3000 stall converters.
Vehicle weight - regular '95 vette. I'll do my research online.

Rear end gear ratio - I guess stock, but I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow maybe it has some numbers.

Approx hp at flexplate - that I don't know. But I guess stock. I'll do my research... online.

Desired stall - I'll stick with your recommendation, maybe a little lower number.

Cam duration on the intake @ .050 - ???????? I can't start the car without tranny though...

Is there a big $ difference between 9,5" and 12"? And you said deeper pan, but wouldn't it touch pavement?

Thats the cam I ordered from comp cam few years back. Get a t.c you'll love it, It almost feels like running on L1 all the time until you hit 50 mph then if you get lockup the torque converter well lockup and you wont be able to tell a difference..

There are more than 1 ratio available

10-4

Huh? Is the cam stock, or aftermarket?

Is there a big $ difference between 9,5" and 12"? And you said deeper pan, but wouldn't it touch pavement? There is a $200 difference in price between the 2. A 1 inch deeper pan would not come near the pavement.

Duration @ .050" Intake 383 Exhaust 503?

Is it because of the cam you have 50 MPG? Or combination of camshaft and TCC? What kind of TCC you have now? 50 MPG FOR REAL? And more power than stock at the same time?

Did you have to change anything else for cam or machine cylinder head?

He is talking about the CC503 Camshaft from comp cams.

Quoted from another site:

cc503: (224/230 .537/.544 112lsa) w/ 1.6RR's
Widely known for being the biggest cam you want to run on a stock headed car without sacrificing usable power and drivability. Features Comp’s relatively newer XE (Xtreme Energy) lobes for increased top-end power. Has a very strong mid-range with strong top-end power without much if any loss in the low-end. Similar to the GM846 and good for a solid 10-15hp/tq throughout over the “Hot Cam”, cc305 etc. May have some cam surge, depends how good the tune is.
Pass Emissions?: No, requires tuning to pass
Shift Point for Maximum Performance: 6200-6400rpm
Idle Characteristics: Choppy Idle
M6; Require Gears?: No
A4; Require Stall?: 2500+ Stall Speed

And I believe he meant 50 MPH the converter locks up , not 50 MPG. If your getting 50 MPG out of your vette you are awsome.

I'll look at my rear gear ratio today.

Desired stall. what is 10-4?

Cam duration on the intake. I thought you meant some kind of cam as a camera or cavity. I didn't occur to me that you are referring to a camshaft.

Well down the road I would like to upgrade it, but not now.
I looked at COMP CAM and there are two that give more power and better economy... one 206 212 and another one 202 212.
I don't know what camshaft I have now. But car sounds stock. Don't think that previous owner changed it.

Is there any that you may recommend out of 12" ones that would have room for new camshaft down the road. Thanks.
