You have water or air flow blockage somewhere.

With both fans running and a properly operating cooling system, your temps should never get above 225.

I'm in the same boat. I have a 94 coupe. I put a water pump on it the day I bought it, 2 years ago. It's been hot this week, 101 yesterday. The car will melt itself down (240+) with the air on after a 35 minute drive. It climbs a degree or two at a time. When it overheats, it spews coolant out of the radiator cap.

I drove home today (90 degrees outside) with the air off. It never reached more than 205 (30 minute drive on the highway). As soon as I get off the highway, the temp starts to climib. 5 minutes off the highway and it's 230+. I'm guessing that's because they fans don't kick on until 229.

I'm resigned to just saying I can't drive my car, in this heat, with the air on.

You might want to double check your thermostat, when doing your radiator.
and make sure it is for an LT1.

Definatly...You have a blockage somewhere..might get the radiator rodded out.Today in 106F corrected Temp. with A/C on and a 65 mile trip at 70 MPH the temp never got above 182F.(I have a 160 TS) has to be blockage..the fans don't even run at 70 MPH anyway.

Don't the fans run when the AC is on regardless of temperature?

I didnt read all the posts but, here are my 2 cents.

I have all new mods for cooling the LT engines. I went to Vegas a month ago, it was 107 F, got stuck in traffic and the temp went up to 235 F. I turned the heat on and the temp went down to 216 F.

Its summer, its hot and unless you are driving above 40 MPH the fans only give you the equivalent to 6-10 MPH winds.

you mentioned a cam swap; have you checked youre timing? If too far advanced it can cause a car to heat up. Just 1 more thing to consider

DING DING DING!!! you PRESSURE WASHED THE CONDENSER?
you bent over all the fins on the condenser!!!!
look at the condenser with a mirror and a flashlight and or drop a light on the back side of the radiator and stick your head up in the air intake just behind the bumper, and see if you see any light. I bet you blocked your air flow just like closing venetian blinds or shutters.

sounds like it's time for a new condenser...................

Well my problem is fixed...i replaced, fans-radiator-coolant cap-160 thermostat.

i check the ac condencer and the fins looked fine, and the car was tuned by pcmforless so i dont know about the timing. oh and my thermostat is for regular sbc not the lt1, nobody in town had one for atleast 3days.

I also have both fans set up on a key on swtich so that the run when the key is on.

today was 94degree, i sat in trafic with ac on for like 20 and car never got over 225.

My car is black. I'm beginning to think that is playing a part in it.

You need to get an LT1 specific thermostat. The LT1 has a reverse flow coolant system and the SBC thermostat will not work properly in your car.
