Not yet, haven't received the 4th opti yet. I'm going to replace the ICM, Coil, plugs, plug wires and Opti at the same time.

So the new MSD street fire wires came in and do not seem to fit correctly, so we left the Taylor's on. Put in the 4th opti. Runs much better now, but still have the code 42. I'm at a total loss and so is every mechanic I know. Currently trying to get another PCM to replace the replacement PCM.

I'm not completely sure I have digested all 4 pages of information as far as the code 42 goes. But when working with any kind of electronics and replacing several parts in one shot and a new difficult problem arises, sometimes you have to go back to square 1 if it is possible.

Easy to say and a lot of darn work. But going off in other directions or tangents could get you deeper, as you said "there was no initial problem". I would install all the old original parts that you have. Clear the codes and take it from the beginning replacing one part at a time. I don’t believe plugs or plug wires would cause the code 42.

But opti, ICM and coil are the areas I would zero in on. I would also inspect all pins and connectors that were handled. Certain wires or pin to pin resistance may need to be tested for continuity (less than 1 ohm, rule of thumb).

The PCM was happy before and now with the new parts something seems to be setting a code.

This is a idealistic starting point or procedure and may not be applicable or possible to your present situation. But it might give you some different thought.
