Humming fuel pump

My 85 fuel pump is humming! I know (so teach it the words) smart a##.
I am not great with cars . fuel pump was just replaced.
took the gas lid off removed the rubber boot. I was wondering if I got a bad pump Again or what if anything I can try?

Not sure what you mean. It SHOULD hum for a few seconds when you turn the engine on. Then it should stop. This pressurizes the fuel line and it stops so as not to drain the battery. After you start it, it should continue to pump.

It starts fine after a while it starts making noise a constance vibration , hummimg . I change the pump but could it be the the part that the pump in on?

What did you use to replace it with? I have a Walbro and it doesn't do that.

Mine is doing the very same thing, after cranking the engine, it makes a very loud, high-pitched noise. the old one didn't do that.

I would but I already paid for a pump and that did not go so good. I guess my question is should I change the hose or the entire float . not sure the brand pump as I did not install it.

The same thing happened with my 01 c240. Replaced the pump with a cheapie and bam humming constantly. I replace it again with a name brand pump and it was all fixed. Both new pumps, one hummed one didn't strange but lesson learned.

Same problem in my 98 Silverado.

Changed to a Carter pump and now has a constant 'whine'.

Been that way for 2 years with no problem.

Some pumps are just noisy I guess.
