i have that that chip cost me 3 mpg and smoothed out the idle ond off idle response, besides that junk. Google pcmforless they are cheaper and will burn to the mods you have. Very easy to install

Unless you have made major modifications a new chip will not do anything for you.

The same thing that makes air foils and TB spacers worthless...................they do little (if anything) to improve performance

Okay....true story...before I found out about the Forum I leaped at the chance to add 50 HP to my stock 85. So I bought the hypertech chip and the 160 thermostat. It was a easy installation. That is the best I can say for the chip.

Over the next two years I was having problems with PING. It happened some times on level ground and some times on the up hill grade. It was not consistent. I changed the knock sensor. No change. I changed gas stations....went through most of the well know brands. I added octane boost. No change. Complete tune up. No change. I finally started to play with the distributor. I would change the setting and drive it. If the engine PINGED, I would change the setting again. I did this until 90% of the time I did not get the dreaded PING!

I talked to Tom Wong up in Vancouver Washington and arranged for a dyno tune on my mostly stock car. He did a base line scan and discovered that the Hypertech chip was advancing the distributor setting to 43 degrees as you accelerated and at the same time was REMOVING fuel! So it all boiled down to the chip was creating the PING by advancing the distributor and leaning the fuel mix. He burned me a custom chip and I never had a problem with PING after that. And the Hypertech chip DID NOT add 50 HP! Tom dialed in the car to get the most HP out of my mostly stock car. The best part was that going up to see him I averaged 26.4 MPG. After his tune....I averaged 27.2 going back.

Don't waste you money on the chip, find someone that can do a custom tune for your car.

I have 2 computers for my 92. One is the computer that came with the car and had the Hypertech installed.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO COMPUTERS IS WHEN THE FANS COME ON!
