Default Does my car still have a speed limiter?

I bought my 1988 corvette 6 months ago and the previous owner put a fast-chip(pretty much a waste of money on his part) in it. I ran the car at a drag strip and my mile an hour times were consistent 90.11's. Even when i went from 2.3 60 ft times to 1.9's it was still 90.11's. Does anyone know what these cheap aftermarket chips do to the speed limiter??

Thanks, Brandyn

Fast-Chip is from Ed Wright. Ed does good work, from what I've read. That is just hearsay though.

Maybe the chip was burned for the car, and then he made some changes?

Otherwise my guess is your problem lies elsewhere

Should do a little better than 90 mph not a whole lot stock-depends on your neck of the woods what state of tune your car is in, weather altitude inc.
Until you increase the power your ET can change and your mph will stay about the same.

THeres no speed limiter built into these now some call the intake the limiter because these cars run out of breath pretty easy due to the nature of the intake.

That car should run close to 100 mph in the 1/4. There is a rev limiter and mph limiter in the chip. Factory setting is crazy high, like 10000 rpm and 260 mph. I dont remember exact numbers but almost nobody ever changes them.

The programmers were probably having a beer when they put those figures in ; considering the limitations of the TPI

I mean the car has a bored out upper and lower intake,58mmnthrottle body and some exhaust work. pretty much stock none of those thing are even noticeable( building 400 sb). I think the car should run faster than 90 and a 14.8, my fathers ran mid 14s at like 95 and it was stock.

I'll find out soon rebuilding the 350 in a couple of months. Also mig be going to dragstrip this weekend and just put new headman headers and free flowing exhaust with no cats. Should run a little faster in the 1/4. I'll post my times and et after the weekend if I go.

I really appreciate all the help guys. Thanks,
Brandyn
