I have just spent all day trying to figure out why the wipers on my 85 keep cyling in the park postion.
The switch is perfect, tore it down and inspected it, like new. This is the second motor assy on the car and it's doing the same thing.
Any ideas out there? I could sure use some ideas.
If it like a 91 there is a cam on the cover that has to be in the correct position when you put the cover on. There is a pic in the FSM. Or are saying the wipers will not stop wiping no matter where the switch is set or when you turn them off they park in random places?

If the gear 'pin' jumps out of that little groove in the blue cam or isn't installed right, it will cause your symptoms.

thanks for the idea's, Think I'll just change the unit out and see what happens. I have a feeling it may be bad windings in the low speed side of the motor.
Thanks for the pdf file 86, that is a better one than I had in the manual. Turns out I think I have been chasing my tail on the wipers, looks like it may be a grounding problem. I posted another thread last night "wacky wipers". This thing is really weird. Threre are several problems and they seem to be related.

I have been having problems with the delay and washer operation on my '89. I only have Hi and Lo and Mist. I have a new switch, motor and cover and still no delay or washers. On the blue cam part it has 2 arrows pointing to the cutaway part showing where the pin should be. Is this correct? The groove further into the center doesn't seem to match up right. Would a bad ground somewhere cause this? I don't have a wiring diagram and the replacement cover didn't have instructions. I have the pin on the gear right in the middle of the cutout part of the cam and its still not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It's been a couple years so I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure the pin on the motor does Not go into the the blue cam. I think it just pushes the edged of the blue cam. I think you also have to have the lever in the correct position when you mount the cover. I broke my cover trying to get the pin inside the cam groove.
