Has anyone bought a DeraleTransmission Pan Cooler#14104. They advertise 20-50 degree drop in temperature. Would I be better off buying the B&M 71074 cooler, and plumb off the radiator into their 1/2 # female fittings.
I have both. Just installed the derale pan and thermal rapped my exhaust around the tranny. Noticed a consistent 170 degree engine temp. About 30 degrees cooler

Reason: wrong temp
I installed the Derale Transmission pan cooler on my stock 1996. Driving on the highway, I noticed an overall drop of about 10 degrees on average. The trans temp use to rise to about 190 during highway driving and then level off. After the installation of the pan, I noticed the trans temp with normal cruising on the highway to be about 180. It also took more time for the trans temp to rise. I later installed a flex-a-lite transmission cooler (#4118) in conjunction with the pan and have observed trans temps around 160 with steady cruising. With that said, the Derale pan does drop trans temps, just not that much. However every little bit helps. The pan also allows for an extra quart of fluid and does have a convenient drain plug to make it a snap to drain the pan.
