Default Finished replacing the crappy pass window regulator

Been wanting to get this mod done for years.

For the rookies on this board;
The 86e's had the last of the ribbon driven regulators.
Later in the production year both windows were produced with the scissor style regulator.
This allowed the window to operate faster and reliably.

I found an "87" regulator from one of my favorite used parts dealers for 65 bucks delivered.
Motor included.

The only parts that were needed to complete the install was two small bolts to attach the lower frame of the regulator.
The entire mod was accomplished in two and half hours and four beers.
Of special note was that all the holes to mount the new regulator were already drilled!
Alignment was much easier than I imagined.
And the only REAL mod was rewiring the motor connector so the window goes UP when the button is moved UP.

So for those that may have fretted over replacing that pesky window regulator, Fear not, its easy.
And those fearful of drilling holes... Good News!
No drilling required.

And for the purists.... yes, its not stock!!!!

I need to do this mod too. My windows take about a minute to go up when its cold out like it is right now. They are still really slow during summer too though.

Congrats!

Congrats!
This is one of the best "comfort" mods for the buck. Waiting on an old ribbon type window to go up is aggravating. The PO did the passenger side and after fixing his mis-drilled holes, the window goes up as it should and fits the opening. I then replaced the sluggish drivers side and I am happy. I can get the window up with only one finger on the button instead of having to wrestle it up with two hands an inch at a time. Really handy in a rain storm

Welcome to the future, Steve

I took a vid of both in action and was attempting to put them in a side to side vid, but I forgot to finish it. I should track them down and complete, so everyone can see the night and day difference.

That's great. But couldn't you have just turned the button around instead of rewiring?

'84-'85's might not have all the holes pre-drilled. My '85 did not, IIRC I had to drill one hole in the bottom of the door. It was still an easy mod and I sure am glad I did it. To the guys with the '84's & '85's and maybe even a few early '86's, you might not have that one hole predrilled.

Not really. I pulled the terminal ends from the motor connector and swap their positions.
That is much easier than pulling the center console apart.
