Default Service Engine Soon - (Update) - P1416

1996 LT1 Coupe Automatic

The SES light came on (solid) about 2 miles from the house. Car started and runs fine. Drove to the gas station for I was down to 4 gallons in the tank. Filled up. SES stayed on. I pulled the codes using a paperclip (12/4) and got C12....'---',...1. '---', 9. '---', A. '---', and 1.0

Doesn't look like any error codes are present.

Owner’s manual mentions things like changing fuel grades (been using Shell 93 for the past couple of months), low fuel level pulling in air, etc.

Any ideas?

I guess is the SES will stay lit until the symptoms go away..?

Since the 96 is odb2 you should be able to go by any auto parts store and have them pull codes for you

reset the light, see if it comes back, a voltage spike , up or down will sometimes turn it on, most times a service light with no codes is a mileage marker for oil change

Just googled it and it was something about the Air Check Valve.

Do a search on here, I found some info on the C5 Board about it.

Clean the check valve on the tube that comes up from the pasenger side exhust manafold. Do both sides clear codes and see if this works. It only costs $3.00 and about an hour. I use tb cleaner or carb cleaner. Good luck.

I had to do this on my LT4. I sprayed some TB cleaner into the hose and blew it through the valve with my mouth. If you have access to an air compressor, it would be a lot easier, I'm sure. Make sure you get TB cleaner that's safe for O2s and cat. converters.
