I am doing the work on my LT4 all by my lil ole self and I need some way to hold the crank still while checking some things and I can't find a gen 2 holding tool anywhere. I have looked all over the internet for the last hour or so. Since I am without welder at this time, and evidently severe lacking in creative thinking this morning, what ideas or means have you guys come up with?
If the engine is in the car, just leave it in 6th gear.
I don't know if it is due to the LT4 dual mass flywheel but there is considerable play in the crank with rear axles locked down tightly with emergency brake and in 6th gear. It is as though the elastomer polymer is 'giving' with a little tug.
