I still lament the days when the auto parts store and even Walmart carried a large selection of other brands of oil filter, but they all stock the full line of Fram. Practically have to go out of my way to buy Purolators.
Years ago they were a good filter. I don't know when they started making them out of Chinese junk. I had a girlfriend that was a buyer for Fram when they were in RI. I used to get all kinds of stuff from her including the cutaway display models. They used to have metal end caps and I think I a metal cartridge. Nothin like the one in the video.

Fram has been junk for a long time. They gained advertising momentum during the 60-70's Drag racing pinnacle. Then they got famous and hide the truth in that little can. No surprise here!
Been using Mobil's or Napa (WIX) on the Vette.
The Jeep gets Frams. It'll run forever!

For those not aware, about 10 years ago a guy, Bob the Oil Filter guy did a nonscientific inspection of various oil filters. Created quite a stir with his comments about Fram and others. Don't know if the entire study is still available but if you Google "Bob the Oil Filter Guy" you can find enough to keep you entertained for months.

I remember that. The Fram filter has some really cheap paper for the filter element and much less material than other filters. I quit buying Fram after reading the article.
I worked in an auto parts store in the 70's. We cut one of every brand oil filter open and had them on display. Fram looked exactly like that one. Cardboard, with a flat metal spring. The construction at the mounting point is also cheap.
The best filter at that time was Wix. It had a coil spring and metal construction. Eight spot welds at the mounting bung.
While shuffling old papers this AM I found an original copy of the report. Toyed with the idea of scanning it to post here. No way, that sucker is 20+ pages.
I used a fram cause that all I could find on short notice one time, my oil preasure dropped #10 across the rpm range, installed mobile 1 filter and got the preasure back. Had a FE ford in my tow truck , same issue.
Guys, just get the good stuff, Napa (Wix) or AcDelco, K&N, or anyother high quality filter. You get what you pay for...
I was in my local parts store getting a few things and I over heard some guy saying about how much he loves his Fram filters. I snickered to myself and then LOL when I got in the car. Can't fix stupid.
I want to fabricate a 150* thermostat and drill it out so my daily driver runs cool & never reaches 170* at a stop light. I read somewhere that will work.
