Go to a old established locksmith. If you have the key code, he can make new keys. If you dont have the key code, a experienced locksmith can still make your key. As an example, I needed a door key for the 87 I bought. No key codes available. My FSM states that the rear compartment locks are the same as the door, minus 1 tumbler. I took a rear compartment lock with me to the lock smith. In minutes he had a key made for the compartment. He then looked up that code, went to his computer and said there are only 5 possible combinations for the extra tumbler needed for the door. He made me 5 keys, each key had one of the possible needed tumbler for the door. I went home, the third key I tried was the door key. I broke and tossed the other 4 keys. Like I said, go to a real lock smith, the guys making house calls dont have a clue. I was in and out of the locksmith shop in less that 15 minutes

$23.00 out the door.
But remember the locksmith you pick has to be experienced. They know what they are doing, do it fast.

I would agree to take the advice and knowledge of a locksmith. The 93 does not have a key lock to open the hatch also.

But if you get you VIN number and give it to a dealer, they might be able to give you key codes that a lock smith can use. Or perhaps the dealer could help getting a key. Personally I would rather deal with the locksmith but the facts or outcome of the dealer might direct you decision.

I am not referring to a key lock to open the hatch. I am referring to the key locks on the two compartments right behind the seats, also the center console key lock. Those locks on at least a 87 are the same as the door key, just missing the last tumbler/pin.

The local dealer told me that key codes for my 87 were no longer available. I believe and this is from memory of our discussion, key codes for 1990 and older are not available. BUt check with your dealer....just in case my memory is off.

That is exactly correct. The compartment key is a heckuva a lot easier than bleeding over the door cylinder. My locksmith started with the tallest tooth and worked one key down a little at a time. It took him 3 tries as well. Not many true locksmiths any more.
