Default Wiring Harness?

I bought my 88 as a Project Car and im turning it into a Street/Strip Car. The previous owner was going to get rid of the Mass Air and Change it to a Speed Density unit. Anyway the bottom line is the Wiring is a mess in the Car. I Started to label the Connectors under the Hood and thought it's missing the Connectors for the Auto Trans since it was originally a 4+3 car. But i'm switching it over to the 700R4 so I guess I need a Wiring Harness from a Automatic right. Anyone shed any light on the subject. Happy Holidays Pipe

Depending on how "bad" it all is an option might be to pick up a complete engine/tranny harness from these guys : http://www.painlessperformance.com/

Doing well Bill.
Found that freaky pic on yellowbullet.
Harness should be real close. I think 87 was the last year for the 9th injector, so you may have a connection you won't need.

My '88 has the 9th injector-I believe '88s the last year for the 9th(cold start) injector.

Those 80's harnesses seem to be nearing the end of their life cycle as the plastic connectors are crumbling and wires are a real pain to get "clean" enough to solder/crimp.

I would like to install the FAST fuel injection system in the car when the $$ become available. Then I could do away with all that crappy wiring. Does the Fast engine harness merge with the existing car wiring? And what happens to the cars existing computer? Is there a jumper harness to connect the two or what? I would think you would need it to operate certain functions of the car right? Pipe

All you need is the 3 pin plug to go in the trans / the brake switch with TCC release switch ( think they are all the same anyway ) and some rewiring
'165 ECM uses same input for O/d control and TCC ( terminal 19 ) See pic

Just need to supply 12V; key on to brake switch then to trans terminal.
Run a wire from trans and join to redundant O/d relay control wire ( tan / blk) .
And a auto memcal in the ECM
The P/N switch for the shifter you just extend the wires from the clutch safety switch

Or you can take the ECM out of the picture all together and have the TCC lock up automatically in 4th gear and/or with a man over ride

'165 ECM only controls engine functions so if you had a standalone engine management system and wiring then the stock ECM could be deleted .All you lose is MPG readout on dash
If the FIRST ECM had no provision for TCC control then you would have to operate it as per TCC link in post above

You are aware the FIRST ECM / wiring harness is intended for retro fit into cars without a ECM .
Your stock ECM is more than capable to run the FIRST intake.( suitably tuned ); same as guys who install
the HSR or MR intakes
If all you wanted to do was tidy wiring up then you could get standalone '165 MAF engine harness ( cheaper )
and use your stock ECM

Thanks for all the Reply's Vetteoz i'll have to read over your post a few times till it sinks in. I'm not very good with Wiring. The Motor thats going in is a pretty stoudt 383 all forged w/brodix and mini ram. Thought that it might be easy to tune with the FAST XFI system also I can pick up the whole system for less than $2,000 Pipe

Plenty of people around who can tune a hot MR setup with stock ECM ( Mseven on this Forum for one )

Worst case you need a new engine harness
