Hi, I am sure most of you have read about my father's passing on the main board and I appeciate all of your comments. Since I plan to finish the project that me and him are building. I was wondering what are some good technical books that can be recommended on building at 401 SBC? I will be deploying to Iraq for a year next month and will have plenty of time to gather the rest of the parts and read up as much as possible.
Available from Summit Racing and other book stores as well.
While this deals with a stock rebuild, there is a lot of fundamental information that applies to all builds. The book really captures some of the unique LT1/4 aspects that other books do not.
Lingenfelter has a good book about SBC's. But it was printed in the mid to late 90's. And alot of things have changed since then. But there is some good basic info there.
There are Books by David Vizzard. "Building for Horse Power" Volume 1 & Volume 2.
Also Recommend "Smokey Yunick's Power Secrets".
Both might be out of publication now.
They helped me get a more solid foundation on engine building, theory, and practical real world use for making Horsepower and Torque. On the Street or at the track.
Read them myself in the 80's and 90's.
Basic Foundation and princeables still apply in 2010-2011. And allways will.
You might be suprised what Your local library gas for Engine technical material also.
Bring them back after your Tour of Duty In Afgenasteign. LOL.
Come back intact to Finish Your/ Pop's Corvette 383 Build.
Keep in touch on C4 Corvette Forum if You can from the Middle East World.
Hi, thanks for the recommendations. Already ordered 3 books tonight. I will deploying to Iraq and I am in the Army as and ordnance officers 1st Cav Div. 215th Brigade Support Battalion.
Ryan,
If you get one of the short R&R's some of the folks get over here to Dubai. Would be my pleasure to show you around. You might even enjoy seeing my toy box. AND lots of folks here are into vettes lately. Many of them work in the industry and I am sure you would enjoy seeing the Autodrome here and the F1 track in Abu Dhabi. PM me and I will give you contract details.
