Ok, I'm finally getting around to fixing my blown head gasket. I was taking pictures as I took things apart (don't want to mess up the re-assembly...) and figured I'd post this one up to figure out just what the heck it is. I'm going out on a limb and assuming this black wire connects to the thermocouple or whatever kind of sensor it is. Looks like someone tried to solder it back on...poorly. Is this part of EGR? It looks like it re-routes exhaust to the intake manifold. Thanks for any help.
Yea the black wire goes there. Its part of the egr system

This is a temperature switch. When EGR flow is initiated, the ECM expects to see this switch change state due to the hot exhaust gas flow. If the ECM does not see the change it sets the code to indicate that it did not see EGR flow when it was expected.
