How can I check to see if the sensor is working before removing it? Would it affect my engine if I replace the sensor is working?

Ok Ive checked the oil level is good, the water pump pumps, coolant level is good, now need to check the thermostat. And the fans only one turns on as I turn the car on, is that ok? And One more thing, the gauges are all set to high when the car is off, as soon as I turn the car on, only the oil press n volts move while the oil temp n coolant gauge dont move at all, I mean at all, can the gauge mark right as soon as the car starts? Thank you very much!!!

Take a look at the front side of your radiator for Debri, by shining a flashlight, through the opening were the A/C lines pass through on the passenger side of the radiator cover.

Sounds like you have some other problem. Has anyone done any work on it lately?

What is the analog temp gauge reading and what is the digital gauge reading at the same time?

both mark about the same levels. I just drove the car after changing the thermostat, and it run good with no problem until maybe 15mins in started to overheat up to 210 I stopped and turn the car off to let it cool down.....

210*F? That is not hot. The fans don't even come on until 227*F.

ps- If you replaced the t/stat I hope you bleed the air using the bled screws per the FSM.

210 is good if you ask me.

this may have been suggested before, but it may be that the resistor for those guages has gone bad, try running your AC and see if the fan starts right away, with it running and climbing , take a turkey thermometer and put it in your antifreeze , it will tell you if its really getting that hot or if the guages are just off. I and several others on here have upgraded to an aftermarket radiator fan that a few of the venders sell. It elliminated the overheating issue on mine, and I had cleaned everytrhing and tried everything else. mine never gets over 'bout 198f

Are you sure the replacement thermostat was designed for an LT1?

This could possibly be a CTS (coolant temp sensor) issue. The CTS is located on the front of the water pump.
