Default nitrious/supercharge help

Hi,
I was considering putting a supercharger on my 401 build but after reading this section of the forum. It seems that they are not bolt on like it claims and to get it running correctly will double the price. I have since began to ponder a nitrous kit by nex. I was wondering to run a safe 125 shot, what should my compression ratio be at and any other Important information. I currently have A 96 lt1 with dart pro 180cc heads, forged srs probe 4.060 flat top pistons,4cc, forged 3.875 eagle crank, xfi 268-113 competition cam.

Forged pistons are the big thing and you have that already. 125 is possible on a stock LT1 so you should have no issues with that so long as you keep it from detonating.

Haha, that is the trick! Probably some combination of really rich, removed timing and lots of octane.

Spray as much as you want really. 150-200 should live easily. target 11-11.5 to 1 air fuel ona 150-200 shot and pull about 6 deg for a 150 and 8 for a 200 as a start. More the better until you dial in the fuel jetting. I wouldnt go over 175hp shot really with a single nozzle type kit as distribution could become an issue, although I have seen posts of guys doing 200 just fine.

My 383 i ended up running closer to 11.8-12.0 to 1 air fuel with a 150 shot single nozzle setup on a stealth ram setup. ran 32 deg total timing which I controlled using a mallory 685 box with retard function. On motor i ran 34 deg for best hp/trq so i really didnt have to pull much in timing for the system to make great power.

I started pulling bout 5 deg and running in the 10's to 1 air fuel. I picked up 3-4 mph just by going to only pulling 2 deg and running closer to mid high 11's to 1 air fuel.

If you decide to go Nitrous, I would go with the NOS #5151 set up. It is a wet shot and is a proven to be dependable and and powerful. You will need a pressure gauge, and in cold weather possibly a bottle heater, and a purge kit. A 150 shot would be no problem. With bigger solenoids, the plate will support (max out) at a 200 shot.

This is what I run on my car.
