Default 60' times???

I have a blown c5 vert but i am picking up C4 6sp this weekend becuase i'm tired of getting kicked out the track and not being allowed to run the Texas mile becuase i refuse to install a roll bar in a vert..honesty..is 11.05 at 138mph with a 2.0 60ft in vert really to fast?? haha

Anyways, this C4 with have a roll bar and all that safety crap that i going to need but i got a 6sp for the dana 44 rear end and didn't want to change it out. I seen you can change to a sold axle but i don't think i want that so what kinda times are you guys running with some mt steers or slicks? does this rear end hold up to the abuse at the track or do they break let everything else when real power is applied? I plan and putting down somewhere in the 1000hp range or so. I don't want a 1.3 60 but 1.5 would be real nice. Thanks

With 1000 hp, you're going to have to keep eggshells under your right foot to prevent blowing stuff in the back, especially with a 6 speed.

My car is also a 6 speed. I didn't break much when it ran 11's, but when it started running 10's, everything started breaking. You probably need to decide if you want a drag car, that you can give it everything, or a car you take it easy off the line, then lay into it. 1.5 60's with a manual can still break alot of parts. If you plan on trying to run it to it's potential, you will probably want a solid rear end.

This car is mainly going to be for the Texas mile. When and if i go the track, it wont be very much time there. I'm putting a lsx with a F1a..it will be the same setup as in my vert right now. Lots of meth and maybe some NOS. We broke my C5 rear end hooking up on a 10 roll with 700hp with some NT 05 tires so i just don't want to go though that again...haha

Generally speaking, the blower is a little easier on the rear end then NOS, at least in the first 60 or so.

pics or the C5 rear end

WOW... that's a mess. I think with C4 rears breaking, guys break halfshafts, spindles, spider gears, and I broke my whole D44 housing. So they can also come apart.

hmmm, i guess i run it till it breaks then..

That solid rear replacement was around $5000 or so.. that's a lot for rear. Paid a little more then that for the PRM built T6060 and a 08 c6z rear that handles over 1k power.

ON the C5, early C6, its generally the case itself that breaks, not so much the gears inside.

If you go solid rear, the handling generally goes too. My car handles like poo but goes great in a straight line. I'm sure Jim (tpi421) will agree. Just use good parts and take it easy. If you have real horsepower (obviously you do), the C4 rear will splinter pretty quickly if abused. Like Jim, I've been there, done that. Willie

My question about 60' times are just to see what kind of abuse they will take. My first reading about them, they seem to hold up pretty good.. but then again, thinking about it, most were in the 400 hp range and i didn't think about that, oh well, maybe it will last for a while.

It there anything you can do to beef them up? I would like to keep the IRS if possible, makes it a little easier at 200 +mph.
