Power mirrors
The control button inside, on the drivers door light up, but WILL not move/work either mirror. There is no noise as if a motor is working, just silent and no mirror movement at all.
It's NOT a fuse as ive checked those both on the passenger side and the relays under the hood......
Could it be a mirror motor and if so, where might it be located or how would I go about checking it out..
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks
I´m in the progress of fixing mine, it´s just that it´s only the drivers side that doesn´t work.
I´ve had the driver side mirror apart, and found that there are actually two motors in each mirror.
They each have a small gear and each motor has it´s own capacitor connected in parallel.
Not sure if the capacitor is my problem, since both motors work when I apply direct battery power to them.
Must be a loose connection somewhere in the door.
When you push the glass in on the underside, it will sound a bit harsh when you do this, you can get your fingers behind the glass on the upperside.
Pull back with a firm hand, and you can get the glass off the mirror motor assembly.
then it will hang loose on two wires, the heater wires.
Then you can access the three philips screws that hold the assembly in the mirror, spray them with some WD40 before you atack them.
Then you have the motor housing hanging and dangling in it´s harness.
There is a connector in there so you can get everything out, and I even dismantled the motor housing, just a few small torxes.
Then you will only find two motors with their gears.
No fear for small parts, it´s basically a one way fit for everything in there.
Maybe, and hopefully, your problem lies in the switch, if not and if it might be the motors, it´s very basic stuff that a electronics shop should have.
Roll on.
