I've been reading through the C5 Nitrous section and I see a lot of talk about failed solenoids sticking and running duals solenoids on the N2O side for a measure of safety... of course this can happen, but is this something I should be really concerned with?
How often do you guys rebuild your solenoids?
Last question of the day... Bottle warmer? I'm in central florida and it won't go below lower 70's for several months... is it a must or can it wait until it starts cooling down?
If a selenoid fails, it will stay closed. It is controlled by a magnet that is activateed when the selenoid is fed an electric charge. This magnet is what opens the plunger in the selenoid and allows for flow. No power no flow, magnet fails, no flow. The only thing that would keep it open is if the plunger spring broke.
They recommend you rebuild your selenoids annually. I have had mine for a couple years and they are probably due, but have not had much use so I have not rebuilt them.
During the summer months a bottle warmer is not necessary, but it is nice to keep consistency. Same holds true for a Nitrous purge. You can use it to control your bottle pressure by purging excess pressure.
Yep, probalby the main cause of people having stuck nitrous solenoids is running without a nitrous filter. They (the solenoids) stick open only when something prevents them from closing. Running 2 inline certainly will not hurt, but is possibly overkill. I would suggest a nitrous filter, though now most all kits come with them.
