Is that your best advice for the money ...? Really Now !!????
If you can purchase an electric water pump for $200 ... now how do you like the underdrives on an LT1.
We are talking LT1.... Right?
You may as well save your breath I don't think they want to hear what your say-in.
Bottom line is sure "technically" there is "some" hp to be gained unfortunately on your motor it will be minimal and in my opinion not worth the voltage loss and trust me your fuel pump will lose psi your headlights will be dimmer at night your wipers will run slower when needed and so on. I can't tell you how much better that EWP would benefit you hands down a win win. Don't buy for one second they only benefit 1,000 hp motors. Bottom line is it's your money and you will do with it what you want. We are all just giving input and it's your job to figure out what makes sense for you and your application. Just remember that all the claims on the Internet site selling there product is aimed solely at enticing you into buying there product so take it at face value. good luck.

I do not know if the underdrive sets would benefit an LT1 or if it may cause any problems, My car is an 87 L98 TPI. I can tell you I installed the March 3 piece pulley kit on my car 6 or 7 years ago and have not had any problems with or from them in any way and they still look great, the finish has held up beautifully.
Best of luck with your decision and if you do decide to try them post back and let everyone know how they worked out for you on the LT1.

I've always been a little envious of your build, and will be anxious to see the results.

Thanks STL94LT1. Glad the car is still in one piece after 12 years of drag racing. I'll post the results after dyno on March 19th

I am on the fence here guys.

Only problem, if I choose not to do the pullys now, then once I get my car started, I have to drive it to get tuned ASAP. So I would loose out on them being able to adjust my idle as in the original price I pre-paid to tune it for the cam.

If I do the pullys now, I can have them adjust my idle with the tune for the cam.

I just put in a new water pump last fall so I'd hate to spend even more money on another one

IIRC the under drive pullies will only net you 3whp maybe
On my race car I'm just going to underdrive the power steering pump and see if I can finagle the electric water pump in next years budget.

March does make their Amp & Performance line that comes with a smaller alternator pulley you swap out with your current one to make sure you get the correct charge at idle..i installed them on my 85 shortly before it blew up. Its a 2 piece set, bought it from summit for around 90 dollars
