Sorry if I offended you Mike, but Im just stating the facts. Personally I have not seen that much of this. I have seen much more of the attitude of a corvette is faster then any other car because its a corvette. That I get sooo tired of hearing.

Part of the reason I'm running a 383 now is due to a short hwy run against a friend's 250hp Acura TL a few years back.

There is some disappointment knowing your revered sports-car has fallen to the ranks of the modern 4-door family sedan. The best Corvette owners are the ones who don't care. They can appreciate it as-is. OTOH, there's nothing wrong with customizing and upgrading.

The only thing that's sad IMO, is to come here and complain about how slow you C4 is (or how fast something else is). Your C4's not slower than before, cars are just improving (power and mileage). So....Either enjoy your C4, sell it, upgrade it, or mod it. Complaining is for whiners. For people who don't understand HP, weight, and/or the relationship between the two, get a clue.

No. All depends on gearing. And the "TPI Low end tq" isn't what many claim or wish it was, that is for sure. The Cobalt will be at full boost in less than 1 second, and after that, it's no contest.

Default Since 1953

I look at it this way, our Corvette's have been around since 1953 and still going. The ZR1 kicks butt on car 3 times more money, and 53's are still going strong, when other cars can match that then they can talk.

There's always going to be someone faster but not around as long. Be proud of our Corvette's its an American Icon..

My 2 cents anyway....

A LOT read most of it comes down to driver skill. A skilled driver will rip a Cobalt SS out of the hole every time in a L98.

In my opinion by the way, racing on the street/highway where you roll along at say 50 and then both go, is stupid. Hit the drag strip way harder, more skill involved, safer, no cops,etc...

I hate people that say my car can beat (whatever) and brag and brag. Then I ask, were are your time slips? They have never been to the drag strip. Sheesh. If you are gona brag, you better have some proof to back up that mouth.

I have seen modified TURBO Cobalt SS's run 13.0 flat@107MPH.

My car runs through the traps at almost 109. Mostly stock. I could give a one a good run for its money any day. (IF I could launch my car) Plus, its still just a Cobalt. A modified economy car. I got a Corvette, a total pure sports car.

Now I understand This is only a 1990 that might be in need of a new fuel pump but are those new little COBALT SS that fast or is my Vette that slow ?

I think i am in need of a WAKE UP KIT for my Vette !

At the end of the day, you still go home in a Corvette. I don`t care if the other guy has a Subaru with a rocket shoved up its azz.
