Took my shifter out to replace trany ect. I put my shifter back in and when I went to tighten the small set screw in the reverse finger clip I noticed I can slide the thin metal shaft all the way out. I am wondering what holds the shaft in there so I can get in reverse.
I looked close and saw something goes around the bottom to hold it from sliding out. Do I have to remove the whole shifter unit again? I am hoping I can get my fingers in there and secure it?? 94 6sp
Part #25, reverse lockout rod, fits into part#27, stop block, and is retained by part#28, setscrew. Part #30, spring, goes over the lockout rod to hold it down until you pull up on the ring below the shift ****, to engage reverse.
haha. i had a brina fart when I first tried to take this whole shifter unit out and landed up backing the locking screw out thinking that was how this shifter dissasembles. Thanks, I will go back in there from the top and tighten that small locking screw !! thanks man. You saved me hours of stress ! I owe you really.
