I have an 85 with a 406" small block, about 11:1 CR, TFS 195 as cast heads, XFI 268 flat tappet camshaft with 1.6 rockers, long tube headers (1 5/8s for now), OFR x pipe and magnaflows.
Trans is 700 with 3k stall converter and 3.08 Dana 36.
The car currently has a super ram with 1985 computer system.
I am swapping over to a mini ram with XFI EZ MPI computer system. I have a 255lph holley pump.
I would like to get new injectors and tb for this car.
I am thinking of 36lb injectors and 58mm TB. Will this work?
I think 30lb injectors would be enough, but i am looking at doing a bigger cube motor with more head in the near future. Can I get away with running 36s for now? OR should I go with 30s.
you need to know aprox crank hp to figure what injector you'll use. FIC has a calculator app on their site that's really easy to use.
if you make around 460-520 crank hp the 36s are perfect
if you make 380-430 crank hp the 30s are perfect.
select which group you fall into
as for the 58mm vs 52mm debate, i don't remember seeing any back to back dynos showing jack.
i did test an oem TB with an airfoil vs a 52mm on a 400hp 350 and gained zero, as in not even a couple hp in fact the oem had a better throttle response
What are the drawbacks of buying an injector too big?
Any recommendations on brand?
Thanks
