94 LT1 backfiring
When advancing the throttle quickly it backfires, If I advance the throttle slowly it it doesn't', It revs up smooth and runs smooth. It idles smooth. It got 24 mpg driving home 400 miles from purchase.

I would start checking the simple items first.
Check fuel pressure
Change fuel filter regardless of fuel pressure, it might me restricting flow.
Clean throttle body
Clean MAF and wires (resistors). Use only throttle body cleaner.
Check MAP
Check TPS
Check in the dark to see if anything around the coil wire near water pump is sparking. Look at all areas also as you rev the engine.
Possible look at the BLM and fuel trim numbers with a scanner.
Check to see if there are any codes, clear and recheck, use on board diagnostics

Thanks, Could you explain a bit more in detail how to check these items? I want to make sure i've covered all the basics before I take to a shop. Where would one get a fuel presssure gauge? how to check MAP or TPS
