Default Normal aspirated engines and back pressure.

How much if any back pressure does a normal Corvette aspirated engine need to perform at it's best?

Current exhaust set up is headers running through 3 inch exhaust into 2 1/2 inch muffler. There is no back pressure except for the mufflers. I have a set of 3 inch mufflers I could put on it but I need a little help on deciding which would be the best set up.

Thank you.

At wide open throttle you would want no back pressure. Open headers work well. On the street, your system sounds fine. With the 3" mufflers, you may lose some low end torque and the powerband may move up slightly. It depends what you use the car for and what sound you want.

No backpressure is ideal. If the engine combination was designed correctly the less backpressure the better.
