Ken any other information that you haven't mentioned that might help?

such as....you just bought the car and have no history on it.....the car was in storage and hasn't been run in months, years or decades.....the gas is really really old....stuff like that

Do some checks:
-check for stored trouble codes first
-check fuel pressure at the fuel rail
-check main battery terminals/lugs to ensure they are clean & tight
-give the engine/wiring a through visual inspection
-remove the ICM (igniton control module under distributor cap) and have it tested (free service at most local autoparts stores)

Definitely sounds like something electrical. Hard part is going to be catching the problem before it goes away and the car starts. I'd hook up a fuel pressure gauge and run the car until it stalls to see if it loses pressure.

This sounds to me like the "Ignition Control Module"is going bad..This is exactly what they do when going out.. Does the car spit and sputter before it dies or does it die like you shut it off??. Most times if it shuts of suddenly its electrical, If it stumbles or spits and sputters its fuel related most times...You should try to fix it yourself unless you don't mind spending tons of money at the dealers..We have a huge amount of knowledge on this forum and not to many things happen to these cars that someone on here hasn't repaired..But we do need more information and you should check for codes. Most auto parts stores will check codes for you and like Engle said, they can check the Control Module also......WW

Thanks Again,Just had it do it again in my garage,Car started twice and ran perfectly,Shut down car between starts without going to the off position and it failed, turned to the off position and it restarted,When it did it in traffic it just died(no spit or sputter)Through our local club I found a mechanic who has worked on some of the members cars I'll have it towed to him next week,Have towing with Grundy

Have him pull the ignition control module and have it checked. It sure sounds like what they will do when going bad.. If its just shutting off its more then likely an electrical problem, not a fuel problem..WW
